Health
and Fitness Background
by Juha-Pekka Aitala |

I started lifting weights at the age of 15. After 3 weeks of
training I entered my first weightlifting competition and my competition
weight was 85.5kg. I did weightlifting alongside with powerlifting until
I entered the Finnish army at the age of 19. The army was a nine and a
half month rest from training. After getting off from the army I started
to train for strongman competitions and after 2 months of training I
entered my first strongman contest where I placed last.
I have
now been training over 11 years and during that time I have grown from
84kg to 147kg and I have now competed in over 70 strongman competitions.
The best results so far have been 5th at Super Series Grand Prix -
2003, 4th at World Strongest Team - 2004, 1st at World Strongest Team
Olympics - 2005. I have also been in the top three in Finland for
the last couple of years.
