Health
and Fitness Background By Geoff Dolan:
|
|
I was a provincial champion and national level javelin thrower in
high school
and university. I began lifting weights then to improve my throwing.
After several injuries to my throwing arm ended my career, weight lifting
became
more prominent for rehabilitation and filling the competitive urge. I
tried
a little powerlifting, but was seeking something more athletic and
active.Strongman filled that void, and then some. I first witnessed it on tv
and
thought I'd like to try it, so I sought out some guys that trained for
strongman and joined up. My first competition was in 1999, and since
then I
have never been ranked lower than 4th in Canada. In 2003 I was invited
to
the World's Strongest Man contest held in Zambia, and made it into the
final
despite it being my first ever appearance.
