Health and Fitness Background by Coach Boguslaw Kwiatkowski

Aneta Florczyk, Van Horn” comes from a small village near Malbork (Poland). While she was living there she did not have any future prospects.  Only one type of entertainment existed for youth and this was parties in discothèques located in other villages.

When Aneta turned 16, she decided to leave her home as living in the country was not her vocation.  Before she got into the gym she was training shooting.

At first sight Aneta didn't' look as though she was talented in strength sports. But her determination produced results quickly. When Aneta was 16 and her weight was about 60 kg, she began competing in powerlifting and bench press. She did quite well, but the first year of training was devoted to general advancement. After one year, she had built a good foundation and started to train with heavier weights.  It was mostly strength training, but we still placed emphasis on general efficiency, speed, fitness, training all groups of muscles.

Aneta trained in powerlifting for 3 years, winning 13 Polish Champion titles in powerlifting and bench press in all age categories. She competed in the Junior' s World Championship and in 2000 she won second place in the European Championship of Seniors (Luxemburg). Aneta, is the  first Polish woman to break the magic barrier of 500 kg in powerlifting, doing 507.5 kg during the Polish Championship 2001 in Bydgoszcz. She has also broken the barrier of 200 kg in deadlift as a first and last, so far, doing 213 kg (in Bydgoszcz too). It was European junior' s record, then.

It was looking like Aneta was the only Polish woman who could fight for seniors' medals in international powerlifting with the capability of achieving results higher than 600 kg. But unfortunately she was erroneously canceled from the Polish National Team and her scholarship was removed. The motion was put forward by the Women Team's coach - Arkadiusz Znojek. Next he appointed his club competitor to Aneta' s place for the  European Juniors' Championship.  The Arbitrary Tribunal sided with Aneta.   Rather than waiting for the judgment of the Tribunal, Aneta started to train in weightlifting. She was very strong and she had good genetic condition. She only had to focus on technique. After a few months, she became the Polish Junior Champion and made it to the  Polish National Team.  She competed in the European Juniors' Championship (Nuoro - Italy) and after only one year she won the silver medal in the Polish Seniors' Championship in weightlifting. In that discipline she usually competed in the weight category "to 69 kg".

When the 2002 competition-season ended, Aneta began to train using strongwoman techniques to vary her training. The outcome was surprising good.  Aneta achieved better results than the unofficial world records in events such as the farmer' s walk, log lift or in the yoke race. Then her strong woman career began to soar! She placed well in  many different contests. Currently she is the World's and Europe's Strongest Woman.

Aneta likes strongwoman training very much and the strongwoman competitions are more interesting than weightlifting or powerlifting for her. We decided to concentrate on this discipline and the weightlifting and powerlifting have become training variations.
